A Disappointing Experience at Savvy Sliders in Metairie

Savvy SlidersTonight, I visited Savvy Sliders in Metairie, a spot that shares its space with Fatboy Pizza at 2565 Metairie Road. This Metairie location is the first Savvy Sliders to open in Louisiana, having only been in operation since August of this year. I was looking forward to trying their gourmet sliders, but unfortunately, the experience left much to be desired.

I ordered the #2 combo, which allowed me to choose two sliders along with fries and a drink. For my sliders, I opted for the Fried Chicken and the Classic Angus Beef. Additionally, I decided to try the Steakhouse Ribeye slider.

The first issue I encountered was that all of the sliders overwhelmed the small buns they were served on. The meat and toppings were simply too much for the bun to handle, causing everything to slide apart and making for a messy, difficult-to-eat meal. The Fried Chicken slider wasn’t very flavorful, and once again, the chicken seemed to overwhelm the bun. On the other hand, the Classic Angus Beef slider was actually not too bad in terms of taste—it was flavorful enough, though it still suffered from the same issue of the bun struggling to contain the contents.

The Steakhouse Ribeye slider, unfortunately, just didn’t work for me. I didn’t enjoy the taste—it had a weird flavor that I couldn’t quite place. I’m not sure if the meat was flavored beforehand or if it was something else, but it didn’t sit right with me. It wasn’t a taste I’d want to revisit.

One thing that stood out before even tasting the food was the misleading imagery. From the pictures of their sliders, you’d expect something larger, more visually appealing, and full of flavor, as is often the case with food advertisements. However, what I ended up with looked far less appetizing and smaller than expected. It’s a reminder that what you see in ads is rarely what you get in reality.

One silver lining was the price point. For the #2 combo, an extra slider, and two fountain drinks, the total came to $25. This wasn’t terribly expensive considering the variety of items ordered, and I found the pricing to be reasonable compared to other fast-casual restaurants. However, the quality of the food did not justify even this relatively modest cost.

I recently had a disappointing experience at Jersey Mike’s as well. The sandwich I ordered was lacking in both freshness and flavor, with the bread being slightly stale and the ingredients not living up to the high standards I expected. Like my experience at Savvy Sliders, the meal didn’t meet my expectations, leaving me feeling unsatisfied. Both places, unfortunately, failed to deliver the quality I was hoping for, making it clear that attention to detail and flavor are key to a good dining experience.

Juniors on Harrison offers a burger that far surpasses my experience at Savvy Sliders. At Juniors, the burger is juicy, flavorful, and perfectly balanced with a bun that holds everything together. The quality and attention to detail in their burgers stand out, unlike the overwhelmed and underwhelming sliders at Savvy Sliders, which lacked both taste and structure. While Juniors delivers a satisfying and well-crafted meal, Savvy Sliders fell short in almost every aspect.

After this experience, I would much prefer sliders from Smalls Sliders. Their sliders are more balanced, flavorful, and offer a better overall experience. While Savvy Sliders in Metairie offers a unique menu with an interesting range of slider options, the poor execution of the food left me unimpressed. Despite the fair pricing, I won’t be returning anytime soon.
